The series will take place in the UAE, with Bangladesh eager to gain more ODI experience ahead of the Champions Trophy.
The Afghanistan Cricket Team experienced considerable success in their previous ODI series against South Africa, according to the Afghanistan Cricket Board.
Afghanistan will host Bangladesh for three ODIs in the UAE this November. While the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has not specified the exact cities for the matches, it confirmed that these ODIs replace the all-format tour initially planned for earlier this year as part of the ICC's Future Tours Programme (FTP).
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had declined to tour the UAE or India in late June due to extreme summer temperatures, leading to the tour’s postponement. The revised schedule now includes only three ODIs, set for November 6, 9, and 11.
"After extensive discussions, both boards have agreed to proceed with just the ODI leg, which will be crucial for both teams in preparing for the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan next February," the ACB stated in a press release.
BCB President Faruque Ahmed mentioned that he had met with ACB officials during the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting in Malaysia. Bangladesh, having played only three ODIs in 2024, was eager to schedule more matches as part of their Champions Trophy preparations. The team will also play three ODIs against the West Indies later this year, but the BCB felt this alone would not be sufficient.
"I recently spoke with Afghanistan Cricket Board officials in Kuala Lumpur," Ahmed said. "We aimed to arrange three one-day matches against Afghanistan on our way to the West Indies."
Following the Afghanistan ODIs, Bangladesh will head to the Caribbean for a series involving two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is starting in mid-November.
Afghanistan, which has played eight ODIs this year, including their first-ever series win against South Africa (2-1), will also tour Zimbabwe after the Bangladesh series to play across all three formats.
