Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus returned to Dhaka early today, wrapping up a successful trip that featured numerous high-level meetings with global leaders.
A Qatar Airways commercial flight carrying Professor Muhammad Yunus and his delegation landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 3:32 am. Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain and Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin welcomed the chief adviser upon his arrival.
During his four-day visit to New York, Yunus participated in over 40 key events on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), according to his Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam. On September 26, Yunus attended 16 major events and met with at least 12 global leaders, including US President Joe Biden.
In his address at the 79th session of the UNGA, Yunus urged the international community to engage with the "new Bangladesh," a nation striving to uphold freedom and democracy for all. This marked Yunus' first address to the UNGA since assuming leadership of Bangladesh's interim government following a student-led uprising last month.
